Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman is accusing two mayors of a “cover-up” and stonewalling the investigation.

Gableman, who is leading one of the investigations into the state’s 2020 elections, said he believes there is a cover-up going on.

“Former Justice Michael Gableman told the Assembly’s Committee on Elections on Wednesday that the state’s Elections Commission, its administrator, and the mayors of Madison and Green Bay have refused to answer any of his questions about the Mark Zuckerberg-funded Center for Tech and Civic Life, and continue to refuse to cooperate with the subpoenas issued in the case,” Just The News reported.

“[Green Bay Mayor] Eric Genrich and [Madison Mayor] Satya Rhodes-Conway have chosen to ignore the subpoenas issued by the Wisconsin Assembly because they have no intention of answering uncomfortable questions about what they did with the millions of dollars in Zuckerberg money that they took,” Gableman said.

Just The News reported:

The mayors have said in the past the Gableman’s subpoenas ask for too much information, or that it would take too long to comply with his requests. Green Bay and Madison, along with Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha accepted nearly $9 million from the CTCL in 2020, ostensibly for coronavirus safety operations.

Gableman on Wednesday said the money, instead, went to a massive get out the vote operation in the state’s five largest, and most Democratic cities.

Gableman said a lawsuit from the Wisconsin Elections Commission and the move by Green Bay’s mayor to “lawyer-up” tells him that the people involved with the CTCL money in Wisconsin, and involved in last year’s elections, don’t want those questions answered.

“Reasonable minds might wonder whether the millions of dollars each of these mayors received from the Zuckerbergs may have induced them to do something other than treating all candidates fairly and impartially. And whether those mayors used the Zuckerberg money to get out the vote for Joe Biden,” Gableman said.

“They are trying to run and hide from accountability to the citizens they are supposed to serve,” Gableman told lawmakers. “Why go through all of this legal evasion, maneuvering, and expense unless they do not want the public to know what they have done?”

Gableman is facing a lawsuit from Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul that not only seeks to stop his investigation but also seeks to prohibit him from asking questions of Elections Commission administrator Meagan Wolfe.

The audit of the 2020 election in Wisconsin is getting intense.

Back in late September, Gableman threatened to use subpoenas if election officials do not comply with the audit.

Wisconsin election officials who refuse to comply with the Republican-ordered investigation into the 2020 presidential election will be subpoenaed, according to the retired judge leading the investigation.

In a video released Monday, retired conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman said the state’s more than 1,900 municipal and county election officials had to cooperate with his investigation or he would “compel” them to comply.

Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has said he will sign subpoenas that are requested by Gableman as part of the investigation after formerly refusing to sign subpoenas from Representative Janel Bandtjen.

“The responsibility to demonstrate that our elections were conducted with fairness, inclusivity, and accountability is on the government and on the private, for-profit interests that did work for the government,” he said. “The burden is not on the people to show in advance of an investigation that public officials and their contractors behaved dishonestly.”

He addressed the calls for a forensic audit that have come from such notable people as former Sheriff David Clarke and others.

“It’s important to note that the term forensic audit is a confusing one, and it’s confusing because it has no commonly accepted definition,” he said. “Rather, the definition of each forensic audit is created by those who control that audit. The Office of Special Counsel is conducting a full investigation in order to get to the truth of what happened in our 2020 election.”

He said that the investigation could include a “vigorous and comprehensive audit if the facts that are discovered justify such a course of action.”

He stated his goal was “to put everything I know and everything I learned before you, the citizen so that you can make up your own mind.”
